1984-89 Carrera EFI Conversion Kit - Haltech Elite 750, Coil Pack

This kit utilizes the factory 3.2 intake manifold and fuel system.

This kit utilizes a Haltech Elite 750 standalone ECU to control fuel and spark, replacing the factory Motronic system on the 3.2L Carrera Porsche 911s. It uses the factory 3.2L intake manifold and throttle body and fuel injector style, but adds a Clewett Engineering distributorless crank trigger ignition with high-quality Bosch 3x2 ignition coils.

Kits can be configured with various fuel injector sizes, upgraded to Haltech Nexus S3 ECUs, 

Clewett Engineering crank & cam trigger kits are included in the kits for full sequential fuel injection and individual cylinder ignition control. A hall effect throttle position sensor (TPS) for the factory throttle body provides a high resolution and reliable signal to the ECU.

They can include pulleys with or without provision for A/C compressors, or upgrade to a serpentine belt conversion.

The Coil Pack kits are limited to waste-fire ignition as the coil packs themselves are waste-fire style coil packs.

This kit (# 9008-01) includes:

  1. Haltech Elite 750 ECU (built-in MAP sensor)
  2. Haltech Elite 750 Premium Wiring Harness (connectors on ECU end, flying lead/unterminated on other end)
  3. Haltech WB1 Bosch single wideband O2 sensor controller and sensor kit
  4. Clewett Engineering 9101-10 Crank Trigger Kit (Rotary A/C compressor type crank pulley, 60-2 trigger wheel)
  5. Clewett Engineering 7002-05 Hall Effect crank sensor
  6. Clewett Engineering 1001-61 Cam Sync Adapter kit
  7. Clewett Engineering 1001-74 Hall Effect TPS for 3.2L Carrera throttle body
  8. 71220 GM-style 3/8" NPT Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor
  9. Clewett Engineering 9011-03 Bosch 3x2 Coil & Ignitor Kit
  10. Bosch 24 lb/hr fuel injectors (factory 3.2L Carrera intake manifold flow rate and fitment)
  • All kit items come with necessary connector kits (connector body/plug, terminals, seals) to use in completing the wiring harness

     

Spark plug wires will be needed and are sold separately to allow choice of lengths and colors: 

9192-62 is for single-plug engines with typical lengths for mounting the coil centrally above the engine

9192-64 can be added for bottom wires for twin plug engines

9192-63 are universal length wires with the coil end terminations provided loose in a bag so you can cut the wires to length and terminate to your preference.

 

Options and upgrades:

  1. Installing a Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) sensor is recommended for better monitoring and compensation of ignition timing and fueling as the engine temperatures change. Kit 9191-98.
  2. Dual wideband sensor kit to allow an O2 sensor per cylinder bank is recommended for best performance and ease of tuning
  3. A more advanced Nexus S3 ECU and wiring harness upgrade allows for knock detection/control and advanced engine protection features
  4. Mounting platform kits for the ignition coils are available: 1001-58, 1001-57
  5. Idle Air Control Valve kits are available (1001-76-STR)

 

Wiring:

This kit configured with the flying lead wiring harness will require professional installation with a familiarity with automotive electronics and creating wiring harnesses.

Calibration (Tuning):

We can provide a basic starting file to load to the ECU that has inputs and outputs configured for the included wiring harness and kit components. This is just a starting point, and does not replace calibration/tuning as settings and ignition/fuel maps are different for every engine/car.

The calibration of the ECU settings (tuning) will require a professional. Our recommendation is to work with someone nearby who can dyno tune the car. Remote tuning options are available, but then troubleshooting the wiring and installation is up to the installer. Feel free to contact us for recommendations on installers and tuners.
